Bay to Breaker!

The Bay to Breakers (ING Bay to Breakers for sponsorship reasons) is an annual footrace which takes place in San FranciscoCalifornia on the third Sunday of May. The name reflects the fact that the race starts at the northeast end of thedowntown area a few blocks from The Embarcadero (adjacent to San Francisco Bay) and runs west through the city to finish at the Great Highway (adjacent to the Pacific coast, where breakers crash onto Ocean Beach). The complete course is 7.46 miles (12 kilometers) long.[1] The event is well-known for many participants engaging in varying degrees of public nudity.

This is Bay to Breakers, an annual festival of 75,000 people of free expression, limited inhibitions and limitless alcohol (despite recent efforts to curb this portion of the event). It's quintessential San Francisco, a gathering of gays and and straight people, of the clothed and the not-clothed, of the drinking and the drunk, all joined together for a day of drink-filled fun.

It is basically a morning Mardi Gras. They dress up in costumes if, in fact, they dress at all.

Katanaya (Japanese restaurant)

Katanaya
430 Geary St

San Francisco, CA 94102
(415) 771-1280

If you don't mind waiting in front of a restaurant, I can suggest very good Japanese RAMEN restaurant.
It is located near union Square.
There is no server who is in charge of managing waiting people.
So, when you get there, you should sign up your name and how many of your group in waiting list note YOURSELF.!
It is little bit uncomfortable, but this restaurant is deserve it!
You can have very good tasty RAMEN.

Here is someone's review.
"I went to Katana-Ya on a cold, rainy Tuesday night in December. And there was a line. I thought, a line on a Tuesday night where it's as crappy out as this? Either people are really dumb or this place must be good.

I had a chance to sit inside, out of the rain, so I stayed. It didn't take too long before I was seated at the bar. And here is my only complaint. The place is small. There isn't a lot of room to spread out, and I like to when I eat.

But when the food came, the cramped quarters were quickly forgotten. I had one of the specials and added a few pieces of sushi and some tea. It was excellent, and it filled me up.

The total cost was $25.

Katana-Ya is an excellent value for the money. You will get good food at a very reasonable price. Unfortunately, you have to give up something in exchange, and that's space. Even though you give up that, it's still well worth it."

China Gourmet

2210 S Shore Ctr # H, Alameda, CA 94501-5761
(510) 521-6337‎

Over the past year several restaurants have located in Alameda’s south shore shopping center. One of these is called China gourmet. This small restaurant is located near star bucks, gives the choice of dining in or takeout. Their shrimp fried rice as well as dumplings are popular entrées but they also serve other dishes. Unfortunately they only serve combos (meaning plates with more than one entre together) around lunch time. After that each dish is sold separately which will cost you around 9 dollars each. Overall their food seems really fresh and you’ll get your food in less than 15 minutes.

MUA

MUA

2442A Webster Street
Oakland, CA 94612

MUA is an eclectic dining, drinking and entertainment spot for all ages in Uptown Oakland. Enter the1930's warehouse-era building, pass through a curtain and find yourself at the welcoming bar. Venture beyond and the space opens up to a surprisingly large two story dining area with a large communal table and smaller tables, surrounded by local artwork that constantly changes. Upstairs is the popular, intimate lounge area. The food is American and Asian comfort food served in small and large plates. The menu varies from the Lamb Cheeks, to Crispy Tofu to our ever popular naturally raised Angus Beef hamburger. Our signature cocktails such as our MUA Manhattan with Buffalo Trace bourbon, elderflower liqueur, brandied cherry, and our Épicé Gimlet with Ocho Plato tequila, jalapeño, and agave nectar are made nice and strong. Later in the evenings MUA often has DJs and dancing along with other surprise events (check the website to see the latest). It's a great place for large parties.

New Star Restaurant 526 8th St, Oakland, CA 94607

Recently I had the opportunity to dine at a Chinese restaurant called New Star on 8th Street in downtown Oakland. It is small inside but my party and I received immediate service from the owner once we entered. I tried the fried crab for $11.00 which may sound like a lot for one meal but they give you a whole crab. I also tried the orange chicken and Chow mien which came with very large noodles. Overall with the exception of the Chow mien, the food was pretty good and so was the service. Most of the entries are under $5.00 and come in large portions so you will be able to try different things and share with two or three people.
